Meet the Academy Principal
Tina Serfontein
Founder & Academy Principal, Aqua Ultra Academy
Aqua Ultra Academy exists because of one conviction: water is the most generous training environment on earth, and instructors deserve a methodology worthy of it. Tina is the creative mind and the technical backbone behind that methodology — the person who built the Aqua Ultra Fitness system class by class, cue by cue, in her own pool, with her own members.
What began as a single community class became a full teaching framework: body levels L1–L6, movement quadrants, equipment logic, class templates, programme rules and safety standards — all documented so that any instructor, anywhere, can teach an Aqua Ultra class with confidence and consistency. That framework is now the engine of the Academy.

What the Principal leads
Instructor upskilling
Structured pathways that take instructors from confident to exceptional — cueing, sequencing, safety, musicality and the science of moving a body through water.
Methodology, not guesswork
Every exercise, combination, class template and programming rule in the Academy comes from the AUF Training Manual — written, tested and refined in a real pool with real members.
Facility activation
Pool owners, hotels, resorts, gyms and swim schools are shown exactly how to turn quiet water into a profitable, well-loved aqua fitness offering.
The thinking behind the Academy
Aqua fitness has long been taught by imitation — a class copied from a class copied from a class. Tina's work replaces imitation with intention. Every AUF class is built on documented programming rules: what the water does at each depth, which movements belong in which quadrant, how equipment changes load and transition, and where a body level needs a progression or a regression.
That rigour is what allows the Academy to give instructors something rare: a creative, joyful teaching style that is also technically defensible. And it is what allows pool owners to add aqua fitness as a genuine additional income stream, taught to a standard they can put their name to.
Water first
Programming that respects buoyancy, resistance and depth.
Every body
Levels L1–L6 so nobody is left standing at the pool edge.
Teachable systems
Nothing is kept in one head — it is documented and transferable.
