Programmes
Aqua Ultra Fitness specialist programmes.
Each programme has its own structure, rules, safety requirements and training pathway. Academy members access the classes; specialist training unlocks the full programme.
| Programme | Focus |
|---|---|
| AUF Original | The foundation Aqua Ultra Fitness class concept — full-body, music-led, endlessly adaptable. |
| Aqua STRONG | Resistance-focused strength programming using water drag and equipment. |
| CALM | Lower-intensity mobility, breath and recovery work for mixed-ability groups. |
| Flow+ | Continuous, flowing movement patterns with balance and core emphasis. |
| Aqua Rebounding | Trampoline-based aqua training with its own safety rules and smaller class sizes. |
| Tabata / HIIT | Interval structures adapted correctly for water resistance and recovery. |
| Aqua Barre | Precision, posture and small-range work adapted from barre for the pool. |
| Power Pilates & Sculpt | Core-led sculpting sequences translated into an aquatic environment. |

This versus that
Traditional water aerobics, and what we do instead.
Aqua fitness has carried the same reputation for forty years: gentle, repetitive, for people who cannot do anything else. Aqua Ultra Fitness was built to break that image. Same pool, an entirely different discipline.
Old-school water aerobics
A loose sequence of repeated moves, often improvised on the day.
Aqua Ultra Fitness
Written class templates with phases, timings, intensity curve and a defined outcome for every minute in the water.
Old-school water aerobics
The same workout week after week, so the body stops adapting.
Aqua Ultra Fitness
Body levels L1–L6 and movement quadrants let one class serve beginners and athletes at the same time, and progress over a term.
Old-school water aerobics
Background music that has nothing to do with the movement.
Aqua Ultra Fitness
Choreographed to tempo — cues, transitions and intervals land on the beat, which is why members stay for years.
Old-school water aerobics
A pool noodle and maybe a set of foam dumbbells.
Aqua Ultra Fitness
Sixteen mapped equipment types — aqua rebounders, drums, gloves, discs, bells, bands — each with its own loading and safety logic.
Old-school water aerobics
Gentle, low-effort movement marketed mainly at rehabilitation.
Aqua Ultra Fitness
Genuine strength, HIIT, Pilates and cardio formats, scaled by depth and body level rather than watered down.
Old-school water aerobics
A weekend certificate and then you are on your own.
Aqua Ultra Fitness
A documented methodology, programme rules, class vault and ongoing Academy pathways behind every instructor.
Old-school water aerobics
Anonymous drop-in sessions with high drop-off.
Aqua Ultra Fitness
Booked slots, catch-up credits, term structure, resources and a community that keeps people accountable.
Comparison reflects the Aqua Ultra Fitness teaching methodology as documented in the AUF Training Manual.
Spotlight
Why aqua rebounding works so well.
Bouncing on a submerged mini trampoline stacks two of the kindest training environments there are — buoyancy and a sprung surface — on top of one of the hardest-working ones: water resistance in every direction.
Low impact, high output
The rebounder absorbs landing forces and the water carries body weight, so joints, knees and spine take a fraction of the load while the heart rate still climbs.
Serious cardio without the pounding
Continuous bouncing drives cardiovascular conditioning and endurance in a format that people with joint pain or extra weight can actually sustain.
Balance and stability
An unstable mat in moving water constantly challenges proprioception, ankle and hip stability — the exact qualities that protect against falls later in life.
Deep core engagement
Every bounce and direction change is stabilised through the trunk, so the core works throughout the class rather than only during a floor section.
Efficient calorie burn
Water resistance in all directions plus interval-based bouncing means a high energy cost in a short, well-structured session.
Mood, focus and lymphatic flow
Rhythmic bouncing combined with hydrostatic pressure leaves members feeling lighter, clearer and noticeably less swollen after class.
It simply feels like fun
Music-led, playful and social — the reason members book weeks ahead and keep the retention numbers that make a pool profitable.
Taught inside strict rules
Smaller class caps, defined mat spacing, entry and exit protocols and rebounder-specific restrictions are written into the AUF programme rules.
Rebounding is taught, not improvised.
Rebounder classes carry smaller caps, mat spacing rules, entry and exit protocols and restricted movement patterns. The Academy pathway covers all of it before an instructor takes a class.
